Housing
We will be building 5 more housing units. We will be building these units on the available vacant lots. This will begin summer 2022. One of our biggest challenges we face in housing is lot development. We only have 800 acres and most of that is swamp. Not suitable for building. So before we build any more houses beyond those 5 we need to develop new lots and service them with water. The land claim is a long way off from being settled but an answer may be in some of the Old Town Site Land we purchased. However, it is private land and the Fed Govt may not fund infrastructure on private lands. So, we have to fight for funds to develop some sites on reserve then when that is done fight for funds to get more houses. It's not an easy process working with Indigenous Services Canada. Time consuming but we fight the fight on your behalf.
