                                                                    Land Based Learning

Land Based Learning for our youth continues to be at the top of the list for me in regards to curriculum.  The methods are constantly being updated and revised. I continue to support the concept of Science in a land based context.

I will continue to support the Elementary School's Land based program and their initiative with the Lakehead University to create teachers who have the training and skills and experience to then teach our students. As part of this program the teachers canoed for 4 days down the Biigtig Ziibi. Our ancient and traditional highway.

The school already holds seasonal learning sessions. In spring we have Fish Camp and in fall we have Moose Camp. These camps offer many traditional and modern learning opportunities. Youth are given the opportunity to go out with seasoned Fishermen and Hunters.
